Gorkhe Story Summary Class 12

Gorkhe written by the notable progressive writer Bhat (Bakhat Bahadur Thapa), is an interesting short story in the modern, technology-oriented context. The narrative is coloured by a digital world’s reality mixing with those of rural and city life, and shows how creativity and innovation can contribute to solutions for very modern problems.

Peshal, the protagonist, is a smart, innovative computer engineer. He assists his friend Satpal, who has viruses on his computer in the tale. Rather than using an already-available software, Peshal develops his own antivirus and names it Gorkhe.

Once Gorkhe antivirus scans the system, it found five types of viruses. Some are just too ingrained to pull up easily. A specific file or files is recommended for patching or deletion by the antivirus. At last, the antivirus wins the digital fight and also cleans the system.

This computer-virus metaphor in turn is a metaphor for a deeper message of the story: humans survive and advance through their creative abilities. Peshal is just the sort of person society benefits from when he steps out from behind the camera to apply knowledge and his fingers to problem solving controller modding action. His intention to build something worthwhile and impactful — like the antivirus — is an echo of a common yearning for acknowledgement and influence.

“Gorkhe” is not all about computers and technology. It is an allegory that illustrates how innovation and purposeful work can contribute to a better, more advanced and more equal society.

Key Themes:

  • Human creativity and problem-solving
  • Role of technology in modern life
  • Innovation as a path to progress
  • Digital metaphor for social change
  • Importance of conscious, purposeful work
