Chapter Summary
Art and creation are important for social identity and for preserving culture. They are our history scrolling past, available to give us tools to speak to values, beliefs and struggles. “It speaks to the human quest for understanding, to the need for wonder and to the ways that people across different eras and geographies can talk to each other through visual art, music, architecture, literature, so that it’s this great unending conversation.”
Renaissance (literally "rebirth") was a time of new and innovative ideas and thinking, however there was some continuity alongside the changes, this means there was some continuity as well as change in thinking, learning, and expression. It ushered in new ways of looking at the world — particularly through the lens of science, innovation and individualism.
